When he heard the Little Theatre had an opening for an education director role, he applied and got the job. He then moved to Atlanta where he acted and performed and got his first teaching job.Īfter three years, he moved back to Pensacola and reconnected with the PLT community. He went on to University of West Florida and afterward toured the U.S. and Canada with the Missoula Children's Theatre. He grew up in Gulf Breeze and was a part of the Little Theatre from elementary to high school. Theater has always been a safe haven for Warren. He would also like to break down acting classes into nonmusical plays - for classic works of Shakespeare or Greek tragedies - and a musical theater class that incorporates singing, dancing and acting. Warren would also like to push for an expanded adult acting class and new classes centered around stage management and lighting, stage and sound design. Currently, the theater's education program offers multiple acting classes divided by age groups, as well as an Advanced Improv Academy class. "I remember how encouraged and inspired I felt as a young performer when I would see a Black person on stage, and I want our community to see themselves in our theater as well.Warren has a few goals he wants to implement as the education director. "I think theaters should reflect the communities they perform in," Scott said. Scott said she hopes her efforts will result in more diverse casting in Pensacola Little Theatre productions and inspire others to get involved, especially younger children. Scott's goal is to reach out to as many demographics as possible and find ways to incorporate them into the Little Theater’s classes and experiences. She said she plans to visit local schools, libraries and organizations to talk about the program and said she will bring the spirit and energy of theater with her. “:And being Black and working in the school system has given me insights that help guide me in working and moving forward with different communities." And I love that they are embracing that about me and I love being somewhere I can be my true self," Scott said. "I'm so excited to be in this role as a Black woman because I can offer perspective. This experience, along with her love for the arts and interacting with the community, gave her motivation to apply to the Pensacola Little Theatre. Her time at Dixon allowed her to introduce more people to theater and build a foundation as an artist, teacher and community advocate. After she graduated, she spent three years teaching theater at Dixon School of Arts & Sciences. Scott hails from Virginia but made her way to Pensacola to play basketball at Pensacola Christian College. "To me, it's where I got to really create the best relationships because theater is such a vulnerable thing and it's where you get to kind of build those relationships with other people by sharing that common task, which is theater." Meet the new community outreach director "I really wanted to create a space where children feel comfortable to be able to discover who they are and really explore a side of the arts that I think a lot of people find intimidating," Warren said. Warren has a few goals he wants to implement as the education director.

Keep in mind that many don't appear until after the memory is completed. Instead, you want to collect all 9 of the drawings and assemble them on the wall in the art studio room. Now that all of this is done, you should get a short cutscene letting you know that the locked room is now open, but DO NOT GO IN THERE. Mother's bedroom - Play the phonograph to soothe her. That's the only optional collectible I interacted with.Ĩ. Also, look at the drawing of the mother when you put the pieces back together. You'll see his picture, so just make sure you go that way, rather than the mother's path. Father's office - In all 3 instances, go to the right down the father's path. Daughter's bedroom - Keep eyes on him while he paints you.ħ. Behind the broken couch upstairs - Get the dog off the couch before father catches him.Ħ. Kitchen - Open the door to let the dog out.ĥ. Closet under stairs - Lock the door so daddy doesn't catch you in there.Ĥ. Basement - Grab the piano sheet music so your dad can play with passion.ģ. Art studio room - Do the painting with the brush, and always follow his instructions. Here are all the main points, and what I did in them:ġ. In every flashback or whatever, always side with and help the father when you can, or at least keep him from getting mad at you directly. So I skipped all the cakes, the train, and really everything else. I skipped all optional collectibles, besides the 9 drawings, because most of them involve a negative memory of the father. Throughout the game, you are going to want to do everything to please the father. So the achievement is called "The Tree and the Apple" so I figured it was relative to the whole "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" thing. This video 100% works, it's just the rat face/map trigger of the puzzle pieces can be a little glitchy.Īlso, as AP 8T8 said, this ending and the father ending can be stacked together as you can quit to the main menu as soon as "the tree and the apple" achievements pops, continue back in and then go and open the door for the "let bygones be bygones ending", just did the exact same thing! At first nothing showed but once I waited a minute or 2 the rat illimination DID show and then showed the map and I was able to get the achievement. Quit to main menu then continue, head straight back to the puzzle of my face. If you encounte the picture issue whereby the top middle one glitched out and went black and would not load into the map with the flashlight off. Do this and then you will achieve the ending.ĮDIT: Some people have experienced a glitch whilst doing this particular ending for a way around this simply do the following: Simply shine the flash light on it to reveal a map (this takes a second or two) turn around where you see a shelf which you can interact with. You have to then compete a puzzle sequence, when the puzzle is worked out correctly it forms a large picture of your face. Once memories are complete don't end the game use all the pictures you have found place them on the wall in the studio. I viewed all the the Red Riding Hood Story Going down all the fathers paths seems to have a more positive impact on the Items you view (So I believe you can still pick the items up this doesn't impact the ending) In the section where you collect three piece of paper with the wife's face view it after finding the pieces Red riding hood story achievement and Slaying the Serpent BUT end it in the painters world not the crayon world When given the option to paint or use a crayon in the Art studio you can use the crayon to go and do the stuff in that world e.g. When playing the piano the mother will eventually tell you to get crayons, use the shapes on the music sheet to play the tune to your fathers approval Take the piano sheet music when the painter is playing piano (you will see it glowing white) When the painter paints you make sure you listen and stay focused on him In all memories show the father in a positive light Follow Fathers Path all the way through the DLC (Don't use mothers) Here are some things to keep in mind when attempting to achieve this ending: CUNY's New York City College of Technology confirmed that Habibov was enrolled as a part-time student in spring of 2013, but they say he is not currently enrolled. Still, the beginner-to-intermediate-friendly tutorials are more than encouraging enough for me to consider picking up a decent fight stick and giving Street Fighter 6 a go someday soon. You’ve landed yourself in prison again, and your only chance is to engineer an escape by any means necessary. I simply don’t have the time to give what arguably might be one of the best fighting games ever the attention it deserves, but that doesn’t mean I’ll never come back and give it an honest try – maybe if I make some equally skilled friends to play with, or after I beat Tears of the Kingdom. And to do so, I’d have to invest hours upon hours into improving. The ranked matches have different tiers, placement matches, and the like, but as someone with a competitive mindset, I always want to improve. But the tutorials showed me how much I have to learn to compete at a decent level in Street Fighter 6. I like everything about the game: The new aesthetic and music taking the street in Street Fighter quite literally, the colorful new characters, and the remixed old characters (especially the equal parts scruffy and beefy Ken) all impressed. That said, I probably won’t pick up a copy of Street Fighter 6 for myself - at least, not at first. All of this is way too much for me to take in, but the fact these in-depth tutorials are included gives me a solid foundation to return to as I continue to get better with the formerly indoctrinated spy. The best moves to counter aerials come next, followed by some advanced techniques. The tutorial in Street Fighter 6 takes things a step further by explaining key fundamentals to her play style, much the same way a fighting game tutorial done by a professional player on YouTube would. I loved this as I am nowhere near intuitive enough to know that Cannon Spike will cancel out almost all aerial attacks or that Killer Bee Spin can be canceled into from an Overdrive Cannon Strike. What’s more, they provided detailed explanations on the strengths of each move, when to use them, and whether they’re invincible against certain counters. The tutorial did an amazing job of refreshing my memories of her staples like Spiral Arrow and teaching me the nuances of moves returning from Street Fighter titles I’m not familiar with. And after a handful of hours with the game, I can confidently say it’s one of the most middling-player-friendly fighting games I’ve played, albeit with a lingering caveat. Thankfully, as a perk of my job here at The Escapist, I got to give it a go early. I have so many memories of playing the series in arcades, on the SNES, on a homemade cabinet that we had at a place I worked. Other than one semi-professional fighting game friend (hi, Matt) who could school me one-handed as he scrolled The Escapist on his phone with the other, I had no one of similar skill to play with, and thus I didn’t pick up either.īut I really, really want to invest in Street Fighter 6. At the time these games were released, I lived in Japan, away from my usual gaming crowd, and I still do. I also neglected to give Guilty Gear Strive a shot, though I heard its online matchmaking provided a fair experience for the skillfully challenged. Yet without friends to play locally, 2D fighters are far too intimidating to play online with my perpetually average skill. I might not have won most of the matches, but if I felt like I had a chance, I could play Cammy against my friend’s Ken over and over again, or take on Arakune with Noel Vermillion for dozens of matches in a row. The best times I’ve had with the fighting game genre were playing against similarly skilled roommates. Yet Street Fighter 6 might have offered a chance to turn things around, with its character tutorials. Capcom 3, Street Fighter IV, and BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. No matter how hard I try - workshopping in training mode, watching YouTube tutorials, getting coached by friends - I have never been more than average at games like Marvel vs. Traditional 2D fighting games have always perplexed me. However, those volumes will likely reach markets only by 2050. Thanks to its vast landmass, Ukraine can produce large amounts of biomass, which could be converted into 20 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas annually. One solution would include scaling up Ukraine’s production of biomethane, whose molecule is identical to natural gas, and ramping up east-to-west exports to Europe. This means that in the absence of a renewed contract, the Ukrainian gas transmission system operator will have to dismantle vast parts of its network and find new sources of revenue to survive. While Ukraine’s income from the gas transmission is much reduced compared to the substantial profit it made prior to the war, it still represents around 80% of the annual revenue of the gas transmission system operator, GTSOU. However, since May 2022, when it reduced supplies via Ukraine, it has been paying around 30% less. Under the terms of the current contract, Russia is expected to pay around $1bn annually irrespective of whether it actually ships the gas. The only three countries that will suffer as a result of the transit contract expiration would be Ukraine, the Russian-occupied Transnistrian province of Moldova, and Russia itself.įor Ukraine, the loss of transit to European customers will mean a loss of revenue. Not even countries such as Austria and Hungary, which currently rely heavily on Russian gas, should be at risk if they secure alternative supplies elsewhere and ensure optimal access to transport capacity, as explained in a recent CEPA article. With additional gas importing capacity being deployed across the EU and a rising tide of liquefied natural gas (LNG) expected to reach global markets by 2025, Europe should, in fact, be heading for a period of oversupply and a return to cheap energy prices. Now it seems Russia has changed its mind, and that Ukraine’s transmission system may not be that old, nor terribly leaky after all.Īt the start of June, deputy foreign minister Mikhail Galuzin warned Europe it may be in for more tough times if Ukraine refused to renew the existing contract, which is due to expire at the end of 2024. Remember when the Kremlin insisted the Nord Stream pipelines must be built because the transit network passing through Ukraine was old and leaky (while oh so accidentally slashing that country’s budget revenues)? Legend held that Hunley was made from a cast-off steam boiler-perhaps because a cutaway drawing by William Alexander, who had seen her, showed a short and stubby machine. At this stage, Hunley was variously referred to as the "fish boat", the "fish torpedo boat", or the "porpoise". Construction and testing Ĭonstruction of Hunley began soon after the loss of American Diver. The crew escaped, but the boat was not recovered. However, the submarine foundered in the heavy chop caused by foul weather and the currents at the mouth of Mobile Bay and sank. Nonetheless, it was decided to tow the submarine down the bay to Fort Morgan and attempt an attack on the Union blockade. American Diver was ready for harbor trials by January 1863, but she proved too slow to be practical. The builders experimented with electric and steam propulsion for the new submarine, before falling back on a simple hand-cranked propulsion system. Lieutenant William Alexander of the 21st Alabama Infantry Regiment was assigned to oversee the project. Their efforts were supported by the Confederate States Army. Hunley and McClintock moved to Mobile, to begin development of a second submarine, American Diver with the collaboration of two others. John Confederate submarine may have been constructed about this time. But the Union advance towards New Orleans caused the men to abandon development and scuttle Pioneer the following month. Hunley, McClintock, and Baxter Watson first built Pioneer, which was tested in February 1862, in the Mississippi River, and was later towed to Lake Pontchartrain, for additional trials. While the United States Navy was constructing its first submarine USS Alligator, in late 1861, the Confederacy were doing so as well. Horace Lawson Hunley provided financing for James McClintock to design three submarines: Pioneer in New Orleans, Louisiana, American Diver built in Mobile, and Hunley. Examination in 2012 of recovered Hunley artifacts suggests that the submarine was as close as 20 ft (6.1 m) to her target, Housatonic, when her deployed torpedo exploded, which caused the submarine's own loss. Hunley did not survive the attack and also sank, taking with her all eight members of her third crew, and was lost.įinally located in 1995, Hunley was raised in 2000, and is on display in North Charleston, South Carolina, at the Warren Lasch Conservation Center on the Cooper River. On 17 February 1864, Hunley attacked and sank the 1,240- ton United States Navy screw sloop-of-war Housatonic, which had been on Union blockade-duty in Charleston's outer harbor. Both times Hunley was raised and returned to service. She sank again on 15 October 1863, killing all eight of her second crew, including Horace Lawson Hunley himself, who was aboard at the time, even though he was not a member of the Confederate military. Hunley (then referred to as the "fish boat", the "fish torpedo boat", or the "porpoise") sank on 29 August 1863, during a test run, killing five members of her crew. She was then shipped by rail on 12 August 1863, to Charleston. Hunley, nearly 40 ft (12 m) long, was built at Mobile, Alabama, and launched in July 1863. She was named for her inventor, Horace Lawson Hunley, shortly after she was taken into government service under the control of the Confederate States Army at Charleston, South Carolina. The Confederacy lost 21 crewmen in three sinkings of Hunley during her short career. She was the first combat submarine to sink a warship ( USS Housatonic), although Hunley was not completely submerged and, following her successful attack, was lost along with her crew before she could return to base. Hunley demonstrated the advantages and the dangers of undersea warfare. Hunley, or as CSS Hunley, was a submarine of the Confederate States of America that played a small part in the American Civil War. Hunley, often referred to as Hunley, CSS H. …until 1995, when she was discovered on the sea bed. As a result she secured her place in history as the first combat submarine to sink a warship. On 17 February 1864, the Hunley attacked and sank a screw-driven sloop-of-war, the USS Housatonic, which was one of the Union ships blockading the port of Charleston. Forty-seven days later she sank again, this time killing all onboard including her inventor, Horace Hunley. She sank during a training exercise on 29 August 1863. Her performance, was, to say the least, chequered. She had a crew of 8 and was armed with a spar-mounted torpedo essentially a long pole with a charge on the end of it. The HL Hunley (named after her inventor, Horace Lawson Hunley) was a Confederate State submarine, built in Mobile, Alabama in 1863 and launched in July 1863. Civil War submarine HL Hunley sits outside the Charleston Museum. Even if you sometimes run into unusual situations, the 'usual' way of scribing should be the easy way. Or leave one end loose and struggle for a couple of minutes. In an unusual narrow situation like that a sacrificial scribe would probably need to be cut first, then transferred to the permanent scribe. To contributor T: so in that condition, if the cabinet is captured by walls on both sides, one side is still left loose, yes? It’s hard to get much easier than that! Wall cabinet, attach a cleat to the wall, slide the cabinet over, etc. Level the base, put the cabinet on the base, slide to the wall, mark, lay on back and cut scribe. The shops I know of that use recessed scribes ship the cabinet with scribe attached. Again just put a pencil mark on each end where you want the taper to start and end and run it. Also works great as a taper jig as you don’t need to figure your angles. Saves a lot of time when you have a board that has a big bend in it. I have a similar set up in my shop that I use to straightline short (less than 8') pieces of stock before taking them to the jointer. Just put a mark on both ends and line that up with the edge of the sled. Two or three wingnuts to tighten it down and you should be able to run them pretty quickly. Then have another strip of wood that goes over that but overlaps onto your scribe with some self stick sandpaper to keep the scribe from slipping. What I would do is make a plywood sled, attach a stop the length of it that is about 1/16 thinner than the stock you are scribing. The belt sander was way too aggressive for such a fine scribe and was no faster than the plane.Īs far as the blanks are concerned you could even get away with one or two inch wide pieces. We would jigsaw within a 1/16" of the scribe line and then walk it in with the block plane. Also, the block plane made a big difference. Worked like a charm, albeit a very time consuming charm. At that point we scribed the top and one side (bottoms ran flush with the wall and the baseboard ran over them) once they were set we marked the top and bottom rails with plumb marks held the loose stile on those marks and scribed it in. We left one stile off but we put pocket holes in the rails where we could get a screw in there. It kind of negates some of the structural advantages of a face frame, and the joints between face frame members won't be as tight as if it was pre-fabricated that way.Īctually, I had a job that was just as you are describing. Although in an upcoming project, we have cabinets that get 1/2" recessed scribes on three sides, which would mean building a cabinet with 1/4th of a face frame, with 3/4ths of it in loose scribe pieces. We've done that before and it's worked out pretty well. I'm thinking maybe 3" wide scribe blanks? It might not be as practical with solid wood scribes as it would be with plywood scribes, from a material usage standpoint. Maybe a few different lengths, each with a few quick clamps on there. Also a real sharp block plane is a big help!Ĭool idea about cutting the scribe and then ripping! I hadn't thought of that, maybe that's workable with a jig or two. Leave one stile loose so that you can do a final fit into the opening. If you have a cabinet with a face frame and want to achieve a recessed scribe make your face frame to the width necessary to accommodate the scribe and then rabbet it to create the recess. Scribe the piece and then clamp it between two pieces of wood to rip in the table saw for the side that will butt into the cabinet. Concerning a scribe for the frameless I would make a wider piece for the scribe. (Cabinet and Millwork Installation Forum) Another is, it's tricky working with such tiny scribes sometimes we're even dealing with 1/4" or 1/2" reveals, making the scribes really tiny and tricky to work with. One problem with this method is that it's tricky to hold the scribe in place accurately to mark it. I'm looking for better methods, or ways to improve our results with this type of scribe detail. After the cabinet is installed, the scribe is held in place, marked, cut, and then pushed back in to place against the cleat and attached with glue and maybe a micro pin or two. The scribes are usually 1/4", supplied loose. Usually the way we handle it is we build the cabinet with a cleat on the side, to be used as a backing for the scribe. Over the years we've done a fair amount of high-end contemporary work where the scribe is recessed relative to the face of the cabinet (or relative to the doors on a European-style cabinet). |
